Telair Communications Ltd.
A conversation with Jonathan Geller, Telair’s president

Please tell us a little bit about Telair Communications Ltd., its market and industry.
Jonathan Geller (JG): Telair offers hosted Information Technology (IT) Business Solutions for Small and Medium-sized Businesses located primarily in North America. Telair combines IT and voice telephony.

Where are Telair headquarters?

JG:Toronto, Ontario, Canada, but we do business throughout the US and Canada using both managed IP bandwidth and ‘bring your own broadband’ (commonly called VoBB).

What is Telair’s business offering?
JG: We offer end-to-end IT solutions for businesses, starting with business telephone solutions and hosted PBX. Using voice telephony as an entry point we offer an outsource solution for various traditional IT solutions including MS Exchange Server.

Please explain how the business is unique (i.e. your market differentiation)
JG: The Telair model differs from other such hosted providers as we focus much more on the customer relationship by providing premium levels of support and management. The normal practice in the VoIP and next generation telephony business models is to provide a lot of tools like administrative portals, and end user portals and large documents, but not a lot of human assistance. Most businesses do not want to manage their telephone systems. Telair has recognized the value of support and account management, and so we provide hosted telephone and IT solutions as well as the support and expertise that businesses require.

Could you describe any current and key industry trends you’re responding to (e.g. Voice 2.0, Fixed-Mobile Convergence, Telepresence, IP Telephony & Security, Billing & OSS, etc.)
JG: Given the current economic situation, next generation telephone systems and integrated IT support alternatives are generating very high levels of interest. Businesses are outgrowing their current phone systems in capacity and more often than not, also in functionality that allows them to both integrate with other technology and lower their costs. Educating businesses and employees on new platforms and available options continues to be a challenge.

In terms of enterprise customer interest, we field many questions on Telepresence, mobile convergence and telephony security. There appears to be strong momentum in these areas. Bridging this educational gap, and helping customers understand both emerging technology and how our offering fits into the overall picture will continue to be a challenge in the years ahead.

When businesses fully understand the potential of current communication solutions and how they can make their business operations more efficient, VoIP Logic will change the telephone industry by unifying the infrastructure layer.
