Frequently Asked Questions about VoIP LogicIf you have additional questions you would like answered please email us at sales@voiplogic.com
GENERAL What are VoIP Managed Services as offered by VoIP Logic? VoIP Logic offers retail and wholesale VoIP service providers use of best-of-breed systems in a managed environment at one of our POP locations around the world. VoIP Logic manages the equipment, sub-systems, power, cabling and monitoring for the service provider.
Why does VoIP Logic provide professional services? VoIP services are complex to launch and can require telecom engineering and software integration expertise. VoIP Logic has a staff of experienced VoIP engineers and the Cortex development team that are able to help design and deploy VoIP services around the world.
How long does it typically take to start offering services via the VoIP Logic platform from the time the contract is signed? This is affected by the level of customization and the amount of professional services that are needed. On generic deployments with no additional hardware turnups have taken days. A much more typical deployment includes training, configuration assistance and small customizations - we average three to eight weeks after the contract is signed.
Do I have to use 100% of VoIP Logic’s solution or can I use network elements that are already in place in my network? The choice is yours. VoIP Logic has designed and deployed its core elements to be used as one or broken down into separate individual modules that then can be linked to your elements.
Tell me more about Cortex. Cortex is middleware that has an ever increasing list of integration modules allowing easy management of VoIP Services through a single sign-on integrated web platform, enabling services providers, their resellers, agents and customers to access all the network components in one place. See our general information and our Cortex FAQ for more information.
FEATURES Do I have to use VoIP Logic for origination and termination of my VoIP traffic? No, VoIP Logic does not offer these services. Unlike many reseller programs, we feel this is a decision best left to the service provider. Instead we promote using the best in breed at every stage of the VoIP chain. We believe in using carriers whose business it is to originate and terminate, while VoIP Logic continues on building world class applications and features that help our customer grown and take market share.
Do I have to use Cortex when deploying VoIP Logic’s solutions? No. All of our systems can be managed using their native portals; however most of our customers using more than one of our core elements have found that Cortex brings a level of simplicity since it gives all of the network elements a common interface and a degree of sophistication of integration you can't get from the native platforms alone.
Can I maintain my own billing platform when using VoIP Logic’s solution? Yes, you can pick and choose which network elements you wish to deploy from VoIP Logic. You can use your own billing platform standalone, or talk with our professional services team about having your platform integrated with Cortex for a single unified interface.
How do I get the billing information from VoIP Logic to my billing platform? Depending on some interconnect factors, we can push or pull a flat file, or in some cases, even push directly to your billing database. Contact us to discuss your options so we can help determine the best technical, operational and cost-effective solution for you.
Does VoIP Logic support Voice Mail to E-mail and MWI (Message Waiting Indicator)? Yes, since VoIP Logic only deploys best of breed technology we are committed to bring our customers the applications and features that they expect and demand.
Can VoIP Logic provide E911 services? Yes, our 3rd party E911 provider is integrated into the Cortex platform in order to help our customers speed time to market and easy of provisioning. We can also supply E911 services to our customers who aren't using Cortex. The choice is yours.
TECHNICAL What protocols do you support for your hosted Class 5 VoIP application? VoIP Logic fully supports both SIP and MGCP, we do not support H.323 or SCCP (Cisco Skinny)
What codecs do you support for your hosted Class 5 VoIP application? We support all codecs from the routing prospectus, however some of VoIP Logic’s network elements require G.711 for their media streams (i.e. Voice Mail)
Do you support T.38 faxing? Yes, as long as both the CPE and the terminating gateway support it.
How do I keep as much of the media traffic from my customers on my network? There are several ways VoIP Logic can help our customers design to overcome this problem. However, there is no right or wrong answer. Our experienced engineering team will work with our customers to design a solution that fits their needs.
What are my options for interconnecting to VoIP Logic’s POPs? There are a few ways our customers interconnect with us. They can either use the public Internet or some type of point to point peering such as private line IP. It all comes down to the level of QoS our customers wish to maintain.
I use any CPE (i.e. Soft phone, IP phone, or ATA) when using VoIP Logic’s platform? Yes, however VoIP Logic does not guarantee that all features will work with all CPEs. VoIP Logic maintains a matrix of approved devices that will work with our core elements. If you chose to use a device that is not on the matrix we will work with you in the testing of that device. |
